If you like underground stories, then you have the right book in your hands. If you do not, then perhaps you should change your mind as you follow the desperate efforts of a family trying desperately to escape the stranglehold of their lives as their country sinks further and further into the mire of the economic crisis and their future is buried all the more in the belly of a labyrinth. This is one of those underground stories about people trapped in the conventions of the weather, people hunted by the nightmares of their private passions, people looking like the negatives of photographs as they try desperately to grab onto a boat that lies tied up in a dry dock. 1. Πάνος Τουρλής
The Author
Yannis Remoundos was born in Pireaus. He has lived in Denmark, Yugoslavia, Germany, and, for a time, in Crete. He is a successful writer for adults and children alike. His exquisite sense of humour makes all of his books for children a delight to read, while his adult fiction is full of a "wise melancholy" note that gives his work the quality of a modern tragedy. His first book, WHICH WAY TO DELIGIANNI STREET, received the 1999 Circle of the Greek Children's Book Prize. That same year, HOW WAS YOUR VACATION IN VOLOS, KOSTAKI? received the Women's Literary Society Prize. Since then, he has received two further Greek national prizes for his children's books.
