GIRLS IN TEARS

The girls are back - but they're not very happy! Ellie's glorious romance with Russell is teetering on the rocks. Magda's lost her pet and is desperately upset (though the others didn't even know she had a hamster!). And Nadine is fed up with the other two lecturing her about the dangers of meeting someone on the Internet - she thinks her online boyfriend sounds wonderful!

Buckets of tears are wept and hundreds of tissues are sniffled into - can the girls survive these testing times?

The Author
Jacqueline Wilson was born in Bath in 1945, but spent most of her childhood in Kingston-upon-Thames. She always wanted to be a writer and wrote her first "novel" when she was nine, filling countless exercise books as she grew up. As a teenager she started work as a journalist for a magazine publishing company in Scotland. She has been writing full time all her adult life. Jacqueline has been on countless shortlists and has won many awards, including the Smarties Prize and the Children's Book Award. The Illustrated Mum won the Guardian Children's Fiction Award and the 1999 Children's Book of the Year at the British Book Awards. It was also shortlisted for the 1999 Whitbread Children's Book Award. The Story of Tracy Beaker won the 2002 Blue Peter People's Choice Award. Millions of copies of her books have been sold in the UK alone. In The Big Read, a poll conducted by the BBC, four books of Jacqueline Wilson were in the Top 100: Double Act, Girls in Love, Vicky Angel and The Story of Tracy Beaker. According to a recent Mori poll, Jacqueline was voted the favourite children's author of English children. In June 2002 Jacqueline was given an OBE for services to literacy in schools.
