Set in the settings and events of recent history, in pre and postwar Thessaloniki, in the America of the flower children, in Munich of Black September, in Athens of the Polytechnic Upsurge and in the current events of today, two parallel stories unravel, those of Rachel and Yiannis.
Rachel is forced, during some of the most critical times of history, to make decisions that will determine not only her life, but that of the son she lost.
Yiannis is the one who is forced to judge his mother, Rachel’s, decisions and to deliberate whether he can forgive her for all she has deprived him of, and, at the same time, to come to terms with his memories and the guilt that haunt him.
A novel about a great love and a betrayal, that unveils throughout some of the darkest and inhuman times of the 20th century. It reminds us that people may not forget, but they can, and must, forgive before it is too late.
