Paris, 1939: a young French journalist, Philippe Tempo is searching for information on the illicit love affair of a Spanish duchess with a Greek arms dealer, whose life gave rise to many questions on his lineage, his actions and political influence. Who, after all, was the man who, at the end of the First World War, was considered the richest man in the world?
The answer is given by old anarchist Miguel Sarabon. His narration reveals a world of conspiracy, behind-the-scenes politics and illegal profits. A society of shadows writes history in absentia of ordinary people, and events that marked the twentieth century, like the Asia Minor Disaster, seem to have been inspired by a relentless leading character.
