Yolanda Pateraki was born in Yannena. She published her first book in 1976 and was awarded the Circle of Greek Children's Book prize for I DANTELENIA SKOUFIA TIS GIAGIAS [Grandmother's lace bonnet]. She has written 34 books and won 14 Panhellenic Literary Awards. Her book I ARCHONTISSA TOY EGEOU [The Lady of the Aegean] has been included in the IBBY Honor List in 1980.
