Yannis Remoundos was born in Pireaus. He has lived in Denmark, Yugoslavia, Germany, and, for a time, in Crete. He is a successful writer for adults and children alike. His exquisite sense of humour makes all of his books for children a delight to read, while his adult fiction is full of a "wise melancholy" note that gives his work the quality of a modern tragedy. His first book, WHICH WAY TO DELIGIANNI STREET, received the 1999 Circle of the Greek Children's Book Prize. That same year, HOW WAS YOUR VACATION IN VOLOS, KOSTAKI? received the Women's Literary Society Prize. Since then, he has received two further Greek national prizes for his children's books.
