Angeliki Varella was born in Thessaloniki. She studied Archaeology at the University of Athens. She has been writing books for children with a passion since 1966 and has received many awards for her works. She was a candidate for the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 1990 and a candidate for the Astrid Lindgren Prize in 2005. She is the president of the Women's Literary Society and one of the main editors of Diadromes (the foremost Greek children's literature review). She adores her grandchildren, cherries, and clever books. Angeliki is one of the most well-loved Greek children's authors. Children adore her for her sweet, funny and warm stories, most of which have become "essential reads" for her fans.
