Lena Merika was born in Athens. She studied economics in Vienna and worked in the private sector for 23 years. When she took early retirement, she devoted herself to her greatest passions: theatre - she has written eleven theatrical plays and been awarded for seven -, the cinema and television (working as a scriptwriter), and literature. Since 1999, she has published eleven books for children and teens (which are constantly being reprinted), a large number of short stories (scattered in various collections and magazines), and a number of novels for adults. Lena Merika has been awarded for her collective work with the Children's Literature Prize of the Ourani Foundation of the Academy of Athens. Lena Merika's children's books are simply delicious! Using an exquisite sense of humour, she reverses all that is previously considered obvious and emphasizes the power of will.
