Yolanda Pateraki was born in Yannena. She published her first book in 1976 and was awarded the Circle of Greek Children's Book prize for I DANTELENIA SKOUFIA TIS GIAGIAS [Grandmother's lace bonnet]. She has written 34 books and won 14 Panhellenic Literary Awards. Her book I ARCHONTISSA TOY EGEOU [The Lady of the Aegean] has been included in the IBBY Honor List in 1980. In 1983m, the Athens Academy awarded her in 1983 for her overall contribution to children's literature. Yolanda Pateraki is one of the most important figures of Greek children's fiction and her books are widely popular and a great read.
